Well, its finally Spring and with it, we say good bye. Good bye to cold weather, Goodbye to rain, Good bye to heavy clothes and sometimes, we say Goodbye to friends moving away. For you Rick, have a good time and thanks for the laughs. You will be missed.

But speaking of goodbyes, you can say goodbye to viruses. This is the season for them! Already in the first three months of this year, we have been hit with virus after virus after virus. This is good business for us but .. I guess there is no but. But for those of you not too sure if you have a virus, go ahead and check out www.antivirus.com. This is a free service and you are able to scan your computer online. This will check out your entire computer and give you an idea if you have a virus or not. If you do, there is an option to also clean your computer. If you are having a hard time cleaning it, then give us a call immediately. Depending on the type of virus that you have, leaving your computer turned on may not be the best idea.

Along with goodbyes come hello's. Lets welcome in 3G technology for cell phones. Yes, it is finally here and off of BETA. I recently purchased a 3G card from Sprint and I have to admit, this thing rocks. Talking about DSL level speeds surfing the internet from the parking lot at Kahala Mall looking for the next time to a movie was a nice experience. I was at Starbucks when doing my thing and a girl next to me looked over and said .. COOL. eh hem. can I have your number next time?

And finally, we want to welcome in Ryan to our Ranch. Ryan is our go to guy for inside computer repairs. Ryan's only and sole purpose in life is to stay in the room and assist and work with customers who bring in computers for quick repairs. If you thought our repairs were fast then, wait 'til you see us now. Have a good March everyone!

There is a sneaky virus out there. It's called W32/Bagle.j@MM. Yeah. Try reading it out loud five times and give yourself a big pat on the back if you scored 100%. The virus has several delivery methods but the one we've come across the most is the one that fakes it's your email server. Looks something like this (note the immaculate spelling):

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear user of e-mail server "iav.com",
Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses outgoing from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to clean up your computer software.
Pay attention on attached file.
For security purposes the attached file is password protected. Password is "53756".
Have a good day,
The iav.com team                                             http://www.iav.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~

According to symantec.com, "the virus is a mass-mailing worm that opens a backdoor on TCP port 2745 and uses its own SMTP engine to spread through email. Sends the attacker the port on which the backdoor listens, as well as the IP address. Attempts to spread through file-sharing networks, such as Kazaa and iMesh, by dropping itself into the folders that contain "shar" in their names."

Don't understand this? That's why we are in business.
Got this in your inbox? Delete it.
