Cowabunga! Computers has teamed up with Bank of Hawaii to provide 24/7 desktop support for all of the neighbor island branches. We also provide secondary support for the main branch in downtown as well as for its Dillingham Branch operations. We provide onsite support at the neighbor island branches everyday and are on stand by Saturday and Sunday. We are excited to be forming a strong team with Bank of Hawaii and hope that you can also rely on us for your hardware repair/installation.

We have separated our internet service from repair, networking and web services. All ISP related content including webmail can be found at http://www.iav.com. Please take a moment to browse the vibrant new site. Webmail, online sign-ups/payment and support can be accessed at this new site.

Webmail

We have recently purchased a new 4.5MBPS feed to ensure full speed capacity for our ISP customers. This is great news since it will increase efficiency up to 300%.

Webmail

We have received a couple calls after our site redesign inquiring where the webmail link went. Removing the link to webmail was a decision we made to separate the ISP from our repair services.

Support questions, online payments and sign ups can be accessed at iav.com.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Fight Spam
    Spam Filters Implemented:
We have implemented more UCE (Unsolicited Commercial Email) controls on our mail servers. Initially you may have received an increase of unwanted mail as we were testing our mail controls. We have made the mail servers "stricter" in that we do not accept mail from unknown senders, and have blocked a few more UCE (aka spam) sites.

Fight Spam with MailWasher:
MailWasher, a free program, is an e-mail checker that allows you to inspect your mail before it is downloaded into your computer. The way it works is that you launch MailWasher before using your e-mail program. MailWasher looks at your e-mail and allows you to see details, such as who sent the message or the subject line, before you download the message to your computer. Using sophisticated spam recognition programming, it flags suspect messages as potential spam. After previewing the messages, MailWasher gives you several options. You can bounce the mail so it looks like your e-mail address is invalid. Or you can simply delete the message. If you bounced the message, you also have the option of blacklisting the sender so future messages from that sender will be bounced.

The program is FREE and available here. Because it works before you get your e-mail, it works with all e-mail programs, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Mail, or Eudora.

System requirements:
An e-mail account that supports POP3 (e.g. Cowabunga accounts).

Tech Tip

Techie Acronyms
Ever feel like you're listening to a foreign language when hearing Techies talk amongst themselves? All they're using are a bunch of acronyms such as "UCE," "QWERT" and "USAMRID." Don't know what they stand for? Check out this website and you'll be able to find the most common acronyms there.

X-Setup by Xteq Systems
With the ability to tweak functions in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office, Network Settings, and more, X-Setup is probably the most complete system tweaking tool available. Do you hate the Windows button on your keyboard? Use X-Setup to turn it off. How about turning off the splash screen for Outlook Express? You can do it with X-Setup. For the prankster, it allows you to enable a crash on demand "feature." There are more than 750 different hidden functions that X-Setup can modify. It is FREE.
